Historic grandstand at the Charlemont fairgrounds under consideration for restoration by the Friends of the Charlemont Fairgrounds.

The Friends of the Fairgrounds was organized for the purpose of restoring the Charlemont Fairgrounds. We hold one major event, Yankee Doodle Days, in late July. Over the years we have built the information booth and the horse /ox draw arena and stands. We have also brought the restrooms up to code and they are once again useable. The Exhibition hall has also been brought up to code, and it has brought much enjoyment to our fair.

We have worked with Massachusetts Historical Commission, to put the application in order and submit it for

Historical Nomination of the grounds. A small percentage of people hopes to one day see the grandstands restored to their original state. There is also a larger group that seems to think the grandstand should be done away with, so if you have an opinion, please email us, we'd love to hear your thoughts.

We continue our annual membership drive, with different memberships available. If you are interested in receiving a membership letter, please email friendsoffairgrounds@verizon.net and provide your name and mailing address, and we will see that you get one.

Join us for Yankee Doodle Days 2010
July 24 & 25th.
